Students Speak Out On Overall Experience

“I came to Colby because the people here are second to none. When I came to visit during the spring of my high school senior year, I was overwhelmed by how incredibly welcoming and kind everyone was. Thanks to my overnight host, I met so many different kinds of people, and they were all awesome. This year I reconnected with a few of the people I spent a lot of time with on that visit, and we became friends. When I was here, my host had someone taking me around every minute, and they were all eager to help, funny, nice, easy-going, and wonderful. I fell in love with the school before I left the next day, and I still am in love.”

“Colby academically far surpasses all of my expectations. Classes are great, teachers are amazing, and the workload, although heavy, is manageable if you forgo sleep, but socially, Colby seems to be drastically stunted. Life at Colby tends to revolve (like many other colleges) around alcohol. School events without alcohol are generally poorly attended, alcohol-free parties are generally abandoned early in the night in favor of alcoholic ones, and the only mass movement that the entire campus seemed to participate in was the ‘Take Back Doghead’ riot that incurred thousands of dollars worth of property damage.”
