In the book "A Christmas Story" Buddy and Miss Sooks are best friends.  They have many years of age separating them but they are friends.  They live together in the house with other relatives who make them cry sometimes.  They seem to know what each one wants to do before having to speak it.  They are conspirators of joy.   Miss Sooks is playful and makes life happy for Buddy and he makes it happy for her.  Mis Sooks is young at heart and this spills over to Buddy.  She even lets him taste rum which gets her into trouble.  The two of them fly kites together, find and bring home a Christmas tree, and make life worth living for one another.
