   I'm not sure what you mean by translation problems. The story is written in English, so no translation is needed. However, Poe does insert a couple of Latin phrases: nemo me impune lacessit and In pace requiescat. There is also one French term: roquelaire.

   Nemo me impune lacessit, the motto of the Montressor family, means "No one provokes [or attacks] me with impunity." In other words, "If you hit me, I'll hit you back." It is also the motto of Scotland and the Order of the Thistle.

   "A huge human foot d'or, in a field azure ; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel."

   The Latin expression In pace requiescat means "Rest in peace" and is often seen as RIP on tombstones.

   Roquelaire is an obsolete spelling of the French word roquelaure, which is a "knee-length cloak lined with brightly colored silk and often trimmed with fur that was worn by European men in the 18th century" (from freedictionary.com). It was named for Antoine Gaston Jean Baptiste, Duc de Roquelaure.
