Cane | Characters
Unlike a standard novel, Cane is not a coherent unified narrative. It is actually a collection of stories, poems, sketches, and a play that all reflect a common theme. As such it has several characters who represent certain reactions or problems related to the overall theme of African Americans being separated from their origins and placed in an alien culture.
