I thinnk that Candide is tricked so easily because he has no experience. Because of this, I think that he is innocent and thinks that everyone is good and pure. THis shows that he cannot survive by himself in the world Posted by dayae224 on May 16, 2008. |

I think that Candide is tricked so easily as he has been brought up being taught by Pangloss, and he is also still very naive. Posted by hannahwood on May 16, 2008. |

I think that Candide is tricked so easily because he is very immaturte, since he has not had the correct education in the past years. In fact, I think that Pangloss taught Candide things which were too philosophical, such as "all is for the best" therefore Candide does not know HOW to live in a practical world where every person is deceitful, and tries to gain an advantage. I agree with Dayae. I think that Candide is tricked so easily because he's very confused and he has no experience. As he was growing up he had Pangloss as a tutor who always taught him that everything is for the best and that life is good. But, now after he got kicked out of the Baron's house and he's been traveling with people who've had horrible lives (old woman and Martin) and he almost got killed several times he doesn't know who to believe anymore. He doesn't know whether he should still listen to what Pangloss has taught him about life or if he should just think negatively of life. That's why he always has someone traveling with him because he doesn't know how to make his own decisions. Posted by akusic on May 16, 2008. |

I believe that Candide was tricked incredibly easily, and how he was played from the start, it is a disgrace. Posted by william08 on May 16, 2008. |
