Dexrazoxane

Definition

Dexrazoxane, known by the brand name Zinecard or may be referred to as ADR-529, is a medicine that protects the heart from damage caused by the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin.

Purpose

Dexrazoxane is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a protectant medicine given to women with metastatic breast cancer who are being treated with the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin.
