Camille Paglia (Women’s Issues (Ready Reference series))

Author Profile

Camille Paglia came to public attention with her daring, erudite study Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson (1990). Her sweeping command of cultural media and her iconoclastic scholarship have made her a controversial figure. Paglia contends that feminists have presented a one-sided image of men and that there are biological truths to sexual stereotypes. Her frequent appearances on television and her book reviews and public speeches are part of her effort to supplant women whom she considers to be aging rivals, such as Susan Sontag and Gloria Steinem.
