CPP Slang
Know the slang, know the school. The following is a list of things you really need to know before coming to Cal Poly. The more of these words you know, the better off you'll be.
Located across Temple Avenue, it has the Farm Store and Kellogg Ranch along with crops growing all around.
Full-fledged, two-story gym with free weights, machines, cardio, classes and personal trainers. Located in the BSC (Bldg. 35) and available to all students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Cal Poly student ID card
Money that is put on Bronco Access Cards that can be used at campus businesses
The online system used to register for classes and other academicrelated services
Your own student identification number used on BroncoDirect and official documents
-Large building where dining facilities, conferences, events, and offices are located. It is also sometimes referred to as “the new union.”
Computer lab under the Marketplace and next to the Career Center
Also known as the big pointy building; home to classrooms, labs, admissions, financial aid, the registrar's office, and the Multimedia Design Center
Can be requested by a student when he/she has 10 classes or less. This check shows how many classes the student has left to take before graduation.
A test that all students must take before graduation to demonstrate their writing competence.
A series of eight classes taken to explore different disciplines of different cultures; usually taken by architecture, engineering, and liberal arts majors.
The hill students have to hike up to get to buildings 2, 3, 4, and 7.
A restriction that can be placed on a student and can keep the student from registering for classes or following through with other actions. Students can look for holds on BroncoDirect before registering and can clear them before it poses a problem.
Where all of the mailboxes are for clubs and organizations. Go here for any info on how to get involved, to charter your club, reserve a space on campus and more. Located in University Plaza (old horse stables).
Also known as University Plaza or Union Plaza (Bldg. 26). OSL, Judicial Affairs, Stop Violence Office, and other resources.

Carpool program that gives students closer parking spots in selected areas
On Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m., when most students don't have class. Usually, there are a lot of campus activities going on at this time.
