Brutus was a man of principle who loved his country and was willing to risk everything of personal value, including his own life, to preserve freedom for his countrymen. However, he was naive, and he was a terrible judge of character. Cassius manipulated him into the conspiracy, and Antony manipulated Brutus into allowing him to speak at Caesar's funeral. Antony then manipulated the crowd to run Brutus out of Rome. Brutus understood honor, but...

Brutus is the noble but naive one who goes to Washington with stars in his eyes and a will to do the right thing. However, he is manipulated into doing the "right thing" for others which is the "wrong thing" for himself. This is a common story in politics. Eventually, his conscience would bother him and he would quit, or he would stop listening to his conscience and live this way for a long time, getting re-elected all along.
Cassius is...

Brutus and Cassius would not succeed in our century for the same reasons they failed in their own: Their failures resulted from personal weaknesses, not particular circumstances.
Brutus failed as a political leader because he was a poor judge of character. He could not assess the political motives of others, even those of his closest friend Cassius. As a result, Brutus was easily manipulated in the real world while he acted upon his...

I don't know about politician for Caesar. I picture him as more of a Donald Trump type. Trump did, after all, came, saw, and conquered - and he is still doing so. Consider this quote as well: "It is not these well-fed long-haired men that I fear, but the pale and the hungry-looking." That also sounds like Trump to me.I completely agree that Brutus is a "Mr. Smith", with a slightly more violent edge.Consider this...

This is a great question! Undoubtedly, Caesar would be a politician. Given his reputation with the women, he'd probably be like Bill Clinton, but Caesar would never deny his affairs. He'd feel entitled to do whatever he wanted.Brutus would be like the title character in the movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." He's a bit naive and believes that everybody's motives are pure, just like his are. I need to think about Cassius a little...

Big question... I think one way to approach this would be to pick current politicians such as Barack Obama, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, etc. and think about Caesar etc. in that context. Focusing on the political/leadership angle would be a good way to get started, and you can use modern characters to show similar character traits in today's times.

Act V begins with a parley before the actual fighting. A parley is a conference between enemies. The parley turns into a mud-slinging match, with each side making accusations against the other. Before battle, there is a touching farewell between Cassius and Brutus. They both agree to commit suicide rather than be taken prisoner. Cassius realizes it is his birthday. Ironically, it is also the day of his death.

Much of Act V is a collection...
