I expect it depends on the type of office you open and are running, but all offices have the following functions:
1. Greeting the public/customers both in person and on the phone
2. Operating efficiently (low overhead, on budget, not ordering more supplies than needed to run)
3. Payroll of employees
4. Keeping both employees and customers happy (thus retaining employee loyalty as well as ensuring return business from customers)
5. Professional atmosphere (nothing hinky going on between employees and all customers are treated with respect, honesty, and ethical behavior)
