Traditions

First Night

At the First Night ceremony for freshmen, the entire class gets together at the beginning of their second semester to meet their student governing body, get the class flag, crest, and colors. Then they go sing the alma mater on the president's lawn. It declares them officially as alumni.

Welcome Back Fesitval

At the Welcome Back Festival each fall, there is a carnival set up on the lawn outside of the LC. There's food, games, bucking broncos, and an air-filled trampoline. Everyone mingles and is welcomed back to the University for another academic year.

Christy's

Christy's is the huge a capella concert held annually in the Rooke Chapel where all three groups (the Bison Chips, Two Past Midnight, and the Silhouettes) perform.

Chrysalis

Chrysalis is the spring formal dance with a different famous performer each year.

Greek Week

Greek Week is basically to promote Greek life to freshmen and other unaffiliated students. The week is composed of games, lip synchs, and other events. The week ends with Houseparty Weekend.

Houseparty Weekend

Houseparty Weekend occurs in the springtime at the end of Greek Week. It is basically an entire weekend of partying. The fraternities remain open to every student with a wristband.

Bid Day

The day that all students involved in the rush process get their bids from a Greek organization. Many girls can be seen running back to their dorm rooms from the LC.

Greek Welcome Day/Night

This occurs the day after Bid Day. In the afternoon, all of the female pledges stand on top of Freas Hall screaming their sorority's songs. The new fraternity brothers come watch with their fraternity's banner in tow. That night, there is a big party, and all of the fraternities are open to new and old Greek members.
