Jess has been running all summer and plans on being the fastest runner in the fifth grade when school starts. Last year, he was the fastest runner in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade at Lark Creek Elementary. Although he loves to draw, he feels that being the fastest runner will earn him more respect from his friends and family.

  2. First of all, jesse does not NEED to be the fastest runner. He wants to be because he feels he needs to gain a little more respect. His own father does not support his dream of becoming an artist, therefore he wants to make him proud of something else.

  3. Although I am not a teacher myself, I would have to disagree with rmccord. I would do this because she said that jesse was the fastest runner in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. this is only somewhat true. He only won the races onece in his entire life, and if you ask me, that does not make him the fastest of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at all.
