    The gifts the two friends exchange are indeed particularly appropriate. For Jess, the budding artist, Leslie chooses a deluxe set of charcoals, with which Jess draws countless pictures.

    For his part, Jess is at a loss what to give his friend. He wants to find something special, yet has very limited means to buy anything. By chance, he comes across a sign that reads "free puppies". And so he gives Leslie a puppy, which becomes the Prince of Terabithia.
