Explain what the quotation shows us about the director. Then, find a second passage in the novel that supports the same conclusion about the character. Indicate the second passage by the page numbers and first sentence.

 

  And that, put in the Director sententiously, “that is the secret of happiness and virtue  liking what you’ve got to do. All conditioning aims at that: making people like their unescapable social destiny.” (p. 10)
