Social classes have always existed and these exist today also.I don't think that Aldous Huxley is implying that technology development or hardening of social classes. Rather he is pointing to the dangers of how a totalitarian society and too much stress on utilization of physical resources can lead to marginalize certain classes of people. As a matter of fact the industrial situation in late nineteenth century, rather than the current, was more like that described in Brave New World.
