For the 2007-2008 school year, 22% of students received merit-based aid via scholarships and grants. 42% of students were determined to have financial need, and received 100% coverage via government loans, grants, and/or student work-study.

I'll add a little more to the numbers cahusky provided. Generally, Boston University is generous with their financial aid. My package was a key reason I chose BU over several other prestigious colleges. This was the same with many other classmates I spoke with. While you'll run into students whose families can foot the full bill without flinching, most students receive some sort of aid. It's often worth it to apply, especially if you're near the top your class; BU will award their brightest applicants and students with merit scholarships which can cover large parts of the tuition bill.
