Health Services is offered to all full-time students.  BU has on-site immunization clinics, a fully staffed clinic, and doctors on hand at all times of the day.  For serious illnesses, students are referred to near-by world-renowned Boston Hospitals. All full-time students are required to purchase student health insurance, unless they can prove before the freshman year that they are still covered under someone else's benefits i.e. parents insurance.  Personal counseling is also available to students free of charge.  If cases are severe, they can be referred to doctors in the area.

My experience with BU Health Services is rather different than that of cahusky's. I visited the center twice and found the service rather unsatisfactory. The building is open limited hours, especially on weekends. When you actually do manage to catch someone in the office, you're generally going to get advice on how to treat your illness rather than a prescription for medicine. The nurses aren't even allowed to write you a sick note for courses you might have to miss! I recommend going to a local hospital if you ever face a serious illness or are seeking medical attention. I always see fliers for free personal counseling around campus, so I figure it’s available if you need it.
