Rather than just portraying action on stage, this play incorporated elements of song, poetry, music, rhythm, chant, etc. to convey the themes and the movement of the plot. The story used many unrealistic techniques in the portrayal as well, which were innovative to an audience that had not yet experienced such things and caught on as a new and exciting form of theater.
