Have you Applied for that Scholarship Yet?
Saturday, April 28th, 2007Which scholarship, you ask? That one. The one that your employer likely offers. The one that too few students have applied to. The one that you have actually, a good chance at earning.
Students often overlook some of the best scholarship opportunities–those within an arms reach away–because they simply forget that they are available or because they don’t research all of their options right from the start.
Don’t let this happen to you.
A great place to begin your quest for scholarships is at your place of employment. Countless companies, both small and large, reward employees or children of employees with the opportunity to earn several thousand dollars in cash for college. These scholarships are typically renewable and are available in a variety of amounts, anywhere from $100 bucks to $100,000.
Regardless of the size of the award, take the time and apply for the scholarship. Most require an essay and the eligility requirements vary. You’ll likely find that the key to earning a scholarship from your employer is submitting a reasonable application by the deadline. There is no catch, many students like yourself bypass employer scholarships either because they are unaware that they exist or because they feel that their chances are slim.
Whatever the reason, however, the logic of such students is inherently flawed and many don’t realize that they are most qualified for scholarships that are only available to a limited number of applicants–like employees. In fact, there are many companies across the nation that reguarly receive too few applications to bother with continuing the program and helping the many students in need. Don’t let this happen at your place of employment. Take an interest in the opportunites they’ve made available to you and ask your parents to do the same–who knows, you might receive a nice, lucrative surprise in the process.
