Well, if we are talking about a straight cash exchange: around $73,000. That’s how much was paid today for a British first edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Certainly an impressive amount, but the boy wizard has quite a way to go to catch the world’s most expensive books: a First Folio Shakespeare was auctioned for $5.1 million in 2006, and Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Leicester was purchased by Bill Gates for a bank-breaking $30.8 million in 1994.
