60-Second Shakespeare

Tuesday, August 19th by carla

Who can resist the hype of a tabloid headline? Admit it — you read them while waiting in line at the checkout. What we took the same sensationalism and applied it to Shakespeare?

  • Tragic double teen death.
  • Moor murders missus.
  • Kate gets wed - shock probe!

60-Second Shakespeare, a project from the BBC, offered UK students the chance to create their own response to reading. Their project is closed, but the ideas are still good.

This approach combines the Bard with multimedia and, if you upload the files, the Web. It is tailor-made for Digital Natives and their classrooms.

Have you tried something like this with your students?

This is a great site! We’ve made newspapers before, but never tabloids. Why didn’t I think of that?
