There are several themes through-out the book "Black Mischief" by David Berlinski.   Berlinski writes with the theme that science is operated under the expectations that the things explored and activities performed are all with the intention of the future not the present.  He also has the theme of randomness and that things that occur within modern science are random.  ...]]></description>
