BSC Urban Legends
BSC spends more money on landscaping annually than they do on dorm renovations.
The gate went up around the school after a female student was shot at during the 1970s.
There's an underground art gallery in New Men's Hall.
There are wolves and other kinds of strange wildlife that mysteriously appear on campus.
School Spirit
It's not very common to see anyone walking around with “BSC” or a panther tattooed on their body, but in general, the students at Southern are at least enthusiastic when the time calls for it. Being such a small school, there seems to be an atmosphere of camaraderie between people anyway. For sporting events, students sometimes have to be coaxed into attendance with free T-shirts or pizza to the first 50 spectators, but once you're there, you're bound to spot some hardcore fans, maybe even some face-painters. Probably the most spirited time of the year is around Homecoming, when students participate in activities during the week, including a bonfire to cheer on the team. The BSC logo is everywhere on campus, but that seems to be more of a clever marketing ploy than something having any real ties to school spirit.
