The Human Genome Project (HGP) is an international effort to decipher and map the entire human genetic code (genome). In the following viewpoint, the editors of the conservative British weekly magazine the Economist maintain that while some ethical questions may be raised concerning the use of the information learned from the project, the HGP will vastly increase the facts known about the workings of the human body.
