In the following viewpoint, Richard T. Hull contends that the cloning of a sheep in Scotland is an extraordinary scientific advance that should be pursued. Although not enough is known yet about cloning to try it on humans, Hull asserts that many of people’s fears about human cloning are unfounded. Moreover, the development and future use of cloning technology could have enormous benefits for humans. Hull, a philosophy professor at the State University of New York in Buffalo, has written numerous articles on medical ethics, reproduction, and genetics.
