Ben Jonson’s fame has rested mainly on his comic drama, especially on the
masterpieces of his maturity, Volpone: Or, The Fox (1605), Epicœne: Or, The
Silent Woman (1609), The Alchemist (1610), and Bartholomew Fair (1614).
Surviving earlier comedies are The Case Is Altered (1597), Every Man in His
Humour (1598, 1605), Every Man Out of His Humour (1599), Cynthia’s
Revels: Or, The Fountain f Self-Love (1600-1601), Poetaster: Or, His Arraignment
(1601), and Eastward Ho! (1605, with [The entire page is 6522 words long]
