The Story:
Aimwell and Archer, two younger sons who were down to their last two hundred pounds, left London and traveled to Lichfield, where they hoped that Aimwell would marry an heiress and thus make their fortunes. Aimwell posed as his older brother, Lord Aimwell, and Archer assumed the livery of a servant. Arriving in Lichfield, they went to an inn, where the innkeeper at first mistook them for highwaymen traveling in disguise.
In Lichfield they learned that Dorinda, sister of Sullen, the local squire, was an heiress in her own right. Aimwell went to church on Sunday...
