The Story:
After dinner, the Smiths sat down in the sitting room of their typically English home. Mr. Smith smoked his pipe and read the newspaper. Mrs. Smith, insisting that they were a typically English couple, spoke of what they had eaten and what the children had done. Mr. Smith clicked his tongue.
When Mrs. Smith remarked that Dr. Mackenzie-King had had his own liver removed before operating on Mr. Parker’s liver, Mr. Smith argued that if Mackenzie-King had really been a good doctor, he should have taken his own life when Parker did not survive the liver...
