Indeed, despite the sensationalist aspects of his life that might have overshadowed his musical and performance talent, Michael Jackson was a transformative figure. If one were to compile a list of moments that changed pop music forever, I am fairly confident that "Thriller" would be on the short list. It is hard to imagine any one musical figure being able to cross over so many realms and styles of music in the manner he did as something that might be able to happen again. Let's be honest. You cannot discuss Michael Jackson without acknowledging the controversies and allegations that surrounded him--admittedly nothing was ever proven, but you cannot deny that these issues affected and tried to overshadow the man and his music. That being said, Michael lived his entire life in the spotlight (good and bad), but he never stopped trying to use his music to change the world. 1)Man in the Mirror 2)We are the World 3)They Don't Care About Us Just to name a few. How his new tour might have been used to introduce a new generation to the humanitarian aspect of his nature no one will ever know. Posted by ask996 on Sep 7, 2009. |

I am no great fan and admirer of Michel Jackson. Specially, I don't enjoy his singing that much. But when it comes to his dancing performance, you cannot deny that he created a whole new style of dancing. I personally, enjoy watching him dance very much. But, what a single insignificant individual like me enjoys or doesn't enjoy is of little consequence. What matters is that Michael Jackson has created, through songs and dancing, joy and entertainment for hundreds of millions of people across the Globe. Controversies and allegations against Michael Jackson don't add or subtract even one iota from his contribution as an entertainer and innovator of a new dancing style. A mega-rich oddball who was constantly dogged by accusations of child abuse. A man who dangled his new-born kid by one hand from a 5th storey balcony. A man who was so emotionally disturbed that he changed from a normal black lad to a strange ghost. A man with a very long history of obsessive interest in young boys. His huge team of lawyers may have been able to prevent the law from prosecuting him, but he is as 'innocent' as O.J. Simpson. A disturbed and immature fifty year old man who liked to have very private sleep-over parties with young boys!!?? And everybody is OK with that? If M.J. were still alive, I would not let him within 1000m of my little kid. America's is unable to say publicly exactly what EVERYONE is thinking. Micheal Jackson, irrespective of his musical talent, was not a person that society should be holding up as a role model. He was a very very lost and confused person.
