What are two examples of symbolism in the book and how can i explain how they relate to the storyline

I think at least the bridge represents contemplation, but perhaps if it was really used for that, people before the war would not have done what they did; contemplating their actions and the consequences of those actions.

Art represents the freedom of expression that was subrogated for military and cultural precedence. It shows the blindness with which people were willing ti give up their freedom of expression and become "conspirators" in the evil that led up to the war.
