Geometric period

Geometric period [CP].
The post-Mycenaean period when, with the Dorian invasions, the Iron Age was fully established throughout Greece and the country had settled again after a period of turmoil and population movement. A sub-Mycenaean, followed by a proto-Geometric period, is transitional to the Geometric period proper, which in Athens runs from about 900 BC to 700 BC. The period is characterized by its well-shaped pottery, later incorporating animal and human figures.
