Geographic Information System
Geographic Information System (GIS) [Eq].A combined database and mapping system for the capture, storage, and manipulation of geographic data. Typically such data comprises a combination of location, attribute, and topological information about places and areas. Extremely useful in archaeology for plotting and analysing site distributions against environmental and other background data derived from remote sensing, digitized maps, and other sources.
