Arcadia | Bernard Nightingale

In his New Yorker review, critic John Lahr called Bernard Nightingale "a whirlwind of spurious intellectual connections'' and "a literary climber of the first order.’’ Other reviewers have called him greedy, self-centered, and a loose cannon. He is all these and more. Bernard is a professor at Sussex University, though his real passion lies in publishing, not in the classroom.
