It was seven weeks after the crucifixion of Yeshua (Jesus) of Nazareth by Pontius Pilate. All the poor of Jerusalem, who had found in Yeshua their Messiah, had gone into hiding, but the word was spreading. Little by little the story was told: of Yeshua who had come back after his death and of the Messiah who had appeared to his disciples. The matter was hotly argued on all sides. The pious Jews could not believe in a Messiah who had been killed; the Messianists devoutly affirmed their faith.
