Bernard Lewis is Cleveland E. Dodge Professor of Near Eastern Studies Emeritus at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. He is the recipient of the 1998 Ataturk International Peace Award, which is given to people who contribute to the development of world peace. Lewis is the author of many books, including The Shaping of the Modern Middle East and Semites and Anti-Semites: An Inquiry Into Conflict and Prejudice.
