    The story is very intricate.  It involves a farm, Manor farm, where the animals dream of a better life.  They decide to revolt one day and take over the farm, renaming it Animal Farm.  At first all the animals are excited and happy to have run Farmer Jones off the farm.  There are two main characters, Snowball and Napoleon who end up struggling for power.

    At first Napoleon goes along with Snowball's ideas, when the humans try to take the farm back, at the Battle of Cowshed, Snowball is a hero.  He begins to be very popular with the other animals.  Napoleon takes note of this and soon Snowball is driven off the farm. 

    Napoleon makes the animals work very hard, with little rest and little good food.  They begin to realize that their lives are worse then when the farmer was in charge.  After Snowball makes a suggestion to built a windmill to help ease the work load on the farm, Napoleon decides to get rid of him.

    Snowball is run off the farm, Napoleon lies to the other animals, saying the Snowball was a traitor, working with humans.  All of this is an effort to control the other animals, while Napoleon is the one who is working with the humans to make his life easier.
