what are the animals realizing about their work hours?

    The animals are realizing at this point that they are working a lot, it seems to them that they are working more now, after the Rebellion, than they were before when they were under the rule of Mr. Jones.

    "There were times when it seemed to the animals that they worked longer hours and fed no better than they had done in Jones's day."

    Each Sunday Squealer would read lists of how production had improved on the farm as a result of their hard work, but none of it ever made the animals feel any better.
