Towards the end of the story Boxer is traded off at the knacker's for whiskey. The white van that drives up to fetch him when he falls ill is not at all an ambulance as the pigs say but a butcher's van to haul him away for slaughter.

It could be debated whether the pigs got rid of Boxer out of vengeance, but I think rather this was just another "deal" made for profit and nothing else. After many long years of faithful service, Boxer was simply old and worn out and, in the pigs' opinion, of no more use to the community.
