Boxer is the one who enables the other animals to finish the windmill. He gets up 45 minutes earlier than all the other animals to start work. His backbreaking job is to haul large stones from a quarry to the windmill. he does this day in and day out with no complaint. His motto is "I will work harder." Unfortunately, a windstorm comes and destroys the windmill, which was almost finished. Instead of blaming the destruction on poor workmanship, or the storm, Napoleon blames its demise on Snowball. Napoleon sniffs some pig footprints which lead to Foxwood Farm and declares that the footprints belong to Snowball. This dispels any doubts the animals may have had about Snowball's involvement or lack of involvement in trying to hurt Animal Farm.
