    Ironically, after having been beaten by the animals and having an entire new system of government that might be a threat to them, humans are eager to trade with Animal Farm. Jones finally gives up trying to take back his farm and he gets no encouragement from the other farmers to continue fighting the pigs. So the pigs hire Mr. Whymper, a lawyer from Willingdon, to negotiate for them. Whymper is able to play Pilkington and Frederick against one another to close a hugh deal. The humans seem just as greedy as ever and not particularly picky about whom they do business with. They are more interested in profits than anything else.

    In a couple words, stupid and greedy.  They are played against each other by an "animal" --- in effect made tools of the "highest bidder."  The pigs announce that trading with the humans, once the enemy, was never specifially forbidden  (how much was? --- this forshadows the world of 1984 where reality is totallyh malleable), and that in the future the farm will be trading with humans for supplies that they need --- this despite the fact that there isn't enough food for the animals as is.   The animals are caught between greedy pigs and greedy humans ... sound familiar?
