    After the revolution, Mollie becomes more and more of a problem. She works less and less and talks more and more about having ribbons and sugar. Clover tries to confront Mollie and tells her she needs to contribute more to the farm. Mollie's simply cannot accept the rules of the new order and choose to leave. The pigeons see her pulling a cart for the humans on the other side of Willingdon. Allegorically, Mollie represents the hundred of thousands of people who left the USSR after the Bolshevik Revolution. They left all their money behind and emigrated to Europe and the United States. Many were forced to be taxi drivers and do other menial tasks instead of enjoying the aristocratic life they had under the Czar. But at least they felt their lives were safe
