In Chapter VI, life on Animal Farm becomes very busy.  After Napoleon has Snowball removed from the farm for suggesting the building of a windmill, he has the animals begin construction on the windmill.  This expansion of farm activity beyond the production of food also signals the beginning of Animal Farm's trade relations with other farms, which increases Napoleon's demand for productivity.  The animals must work much harder than they had in the past, given the need to meet larger goals.  To make matters worse, the windmill is knocked down during a storm; the animals must then begin the process of rebuilding it.
