    Frank McCourt was a public school teacher, he taught in the NYC public schools for 27 years.  He was a creative writing teacher and he chronicles his experiences as a teacher in his book "Teacher Man," a very interesting read, also a bestseller.

    "After years of teaching creative writing to young people, McCourt determined to write his own life story. Angela's Ashes won McCourt the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, the ABBY Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Biography."
