    Actually, he doesn't formally use the word "principle" in the story. He uses the idea, though. Sammy stands up for fairness, and for protecting those who don't have power, through his act of quitting. Actually, though, in attempting to stand up for principles, Sammy also shows off; he is acting ethically to impress the girls.
