There is a Greek system, which about 20% of AU students participate in. The fraternities and sororities function more as active clubs, and while they definitely contribute to the social life at AU, it does not revolve around them. As many students will tell you, it's there if you want it, but you can absolutely not participate.

And if they do, they are usually lecture-style intro classes to major topics, such as macro and micro economics and psychology. After those classes, the classes get substantially smaller. Yes, while there are no all freshman dorms, every freshman has to live on campus in one of the 5 dorms. Something unique to AU is there is no "roomate survey", so basically it is a random match. Most people have no problems with their roomates, even with a random match, but if so, there are opportunities to switch out.

Yes, many many students study abroad. AU has one of the best study abroad programs because there are a wide variety of countries to chose from. Even if you do not chose to do a lengthy visit abroad, there are also Alternative Break opportunities where you can go to specific countries over spring and/or winter breaks.

Although many people assume AU is not a "party school", there are definitely options for everyone, whether you are looking to party, or if that isn't really your thing. Freshman year many of the parties are frat parties, however since we don't have a frat row, it can take a while to get to the houses.
