Are students very social? Is there an active social scene open to students? Does the school have a reputation as a party school?

Although many people assume AU is not a "party school", there are definitely options for everyone, whether you are looking to party, or if that isn't really your thing. Freshman year many of the parties are frat parties, however since we don't have a frat row, it can take a while to get to the houses. Once people start moving off campus and getting their own apartments, apartment parties start getting more prevalent and the party disgression is really up to you. If partying isn't your thing, there is no pressure at this school to be involved.
