Sometimes the things I enjoy are the very same things I dislike. For example, it's refreshing to know you are not just a number here. The class sizes are very small, and most of the professors will find it easy to learn the names of their students, something you wouldn't find as much in a huge state school. Also, while walking around campus you see familiar faces around which give the campus a real community feel. On the other hand, sometimes I wish the student body was bigger, because once you get into a social routine, you usually see the same faces at parties or in the dining hall, which could get old. Also, I came from a pretty big high school (2600 kids) with great athletics and really intense school spirit. Although I knew American isn't exactly known for sports, sometimes I wish there was more hype about them. I'm finding myself missing fall football games, and sometimes wished I went to a traditional college with the football team, huge population, greek row, etc. when it comes to this. Although I have these doubts, the quality of people here and the motivation and determination that the students attain for success is refreshing and motivating to everyone. It's great to be around people who like learning about bigger things than just themselves. So that's probably the biggest plus to me. Posted by uhlisuhf on Nov 14, 2008. |
