Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
“When I first came, I hated it and wanted to transfer. It was difficult for me to adjust to such a diverse population, and I had trouble finding people I could relate to. Also, the lack of sports really got to me. But after some time, I loosened up a little, met some new people, accepted the school for what it was, and had a blast. Second semester was amazing, I love everything about American—all it’s little quirks and how much it has taught me about the world. Plus, DC is the best city ever. I would never trade my experience for any one of my friends’ experiences It has been, hands down, the best years of my life. Go with an open mind, and you’ll love it.
“Sometimes I wish I went to a state school because the partying there is just ridiculous. I have visited friends at state schools and have seen the madness that occurs. But truthfully, it just depends on what kind of place you’re looking for. If you go to a state school, it will most likely have better parties, but you are just another face in the crowd. When you go to a party here, you see a lot of people you know, and I think I like that about AU. Plus, DC is a great city. There is always something going on. For the Fourth of July, we all go down to the National Mall and watch the most amazing fireworks show on earth.”
