Introduction
The Vermont State Colleges, established in 1962, is a private system in Vermont. It is governed by a board of trustees, whose chief administrator is chancellor. The primary goal of the system is teaching. The main priorities are to insure that Vermonters and others have access to higher education; to provide educational programs that permit individuals to lead more productive and responsible lives; and to maintain the quality of cultural, social, and economic life in Vermont. The total enrollment is usually about 9000; with 250 faculty members. Altogether there are some 60 baccalaureate, and 5 master's programs offered in Vermont State Colleges. Profiles of the 4-year campuses are included in this section.
