Introduction

The University of Puerto Rico at Humacao, founded in 1962, is a public institution offering undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences, business, education, and nursing to an entirely commuter student body. Annual tuition and fees for nonresident U.S. citizens are an amount equal to the nonresident rate at a state university in their home state. In addition to regional accreditation, University of Puerto Rico at Humacao has baccalaureate program accreditation with ACOTE, APTA, CSWE, and NLN. The library contains 117,629 volumes, 10,248 microform items, and 1613 audio/video tapes/CDs/DVDs, and subscribes to 18,697 periodicals including electronic. Computerized library services include the card catalog, interlibrary loans, database searching, and Internet access. Special learning facilities include a learning resource center and a museum, an observatory, a census data center, and web radio. The 62-acre campus is in a suburban area 30 miles southeast of San Juan. There are 29 buildings.
